2 月18 日，2020 年亚洲赛马会议(Asian Racing Conference) 第一天的会议在南非开普敦召开。

会议中，亚洲赛马联盟(Asian Racing Conference, ARF) 宣布中国马术协会(Chinese Equestrian Association, CEA) 成为亚洲赛马联盟的准会员(Associate Member) 。

2019 年9 月6 日，美国赛马会宣布鉴于美国纯血马基因库变得趋于单一(the narrowing of the diversity of the Thoroughbred gene pool) ，考虑规定从2021 年配种季开始，一匹纯血种公马在美国每年最多配种140 匹母马。美国赛马会数据显示，2007 年美国有3 万7499 匹纯血马诞生，而2020 年预计只有2 万0500 匹。

6. 辞世：马王「鸠占鹊巢」被安乐死

8. 突破：玉龙拿下队史第一个G1冠军

9. 辞世：冠军骑师施慕龄辞世

Irish Champion Jockey Pat Smullen, 43, Passes Away

9 月15 日，爱尔兰冠军骑师施慕龄(Pat Smullen) 因胰腺癌去世，享年43 岁。施慕龄生前曾9 夺爱尔兰冠军骑师头衔，他在2018 年3 月确诊胰腺癌，随后退役。

在2019 年9 月中旬的爱尔兰冠军周末(Irish Champions Weekend) 中有一场速度赛是由已经退役的爱尔兰冠军骑师、身患癌症的施慕龄为爱尔兰癌症试验(Cancer Trials Ireland) 争取设立的。

他本人原定要出战这场比赛、与其他几位已经退役的传奇骑师同场竞技，但几周前医生认为他的身体状况不适宜参加比赛，故只能作罢。虽然未能参赛，但施慕龄还是来到了现场。这场比赛被冠军越障赛骑师A.P. 麦考伊(A.P. McCoy) 夺得，最终筹集的善款超过250万欧元。
